A blessingway can be a group of women offering physical care and gentle advice, it is a time of offering gifts and mementos (less about the practical needs of caring for a baby, and more about the spiritual and emotional aspects of new motherhood. The community comes together, and envelops the mother to be in a ceremony that is reassuring yet aware of the coming changes.

Blessingways can be for any or all genders, and can be for other purposes, but the traditional goal is to ease the conscious transition to parenthood.
